The acts of Hamas on Oct 7th 2023 shocked and appalled the world. Three months later, on 26th January 2024, the International Court of Justice declared that Israel is probably committing genocide against the people of Palestine.
Whilst the situation in the Middle East may have no bearing on local politics, the electorate like to know candidates' views on such serious issues in order to form an opinion of the person as well as their policies.
On 11th March 2024, each of the 74 councillors in Shropshire Council was asked if they thought there should be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. On 17th March, a follow up email was sent. Those councillors who have replied, "yes" , to date, are displayed in bold at the top of the list.
